Allow me to introduce myself...
I am Kim Levin, the woman behind Argentous Kim. Where to begin? I grew up in Wilton, Connecticut. Which is close enough to New York City to dream big but far enough to create a sense of urgency.
Designing clothes with no constraints comes collectively from my experiences. My interest in stretch fabrics is stemmed from my years as a gymnast. I loved doing balance poses on the balance beam and did not like clothing that got in the way of my movement.
Attending the University of South Carolina, made me really wish my apparel was smarter. I wanted moisture wicking, UV protection, and anything else to add comfort.
Most inspiring, were my study abroad experiences in Florence, Italy at Lorenzo de' Medici, where I was enamoured with Italian tailoring and luxury leather goods. Continuously, I am very much inspired by Italian style, architecture, art, and culture. I can't get enough of "La Dolce Vita!"
Effectively, I studied fashion design at PARSONS The New School For Design, which is essentially fashion bootcamp. My life was turned upside down in order to meticulously improve my skills and become the designer I am today.
All the while, I am working as a Fit Model. I essentially try on garments and provide feedback on fit, functionality, and comfort. I help designers achieve the best fit that their customers love to wear. Modeling activewear is my absolute favorite category. Fit modeling has inspired me to make apparel that is comfortable and does not hinder daily activities.
I will continue to share more details as this blog evolves! Stay tuned!
